Conversations with Chase

I have a feeling there are going to be a lot more posts like this soon....the conversations I have with Chase are just so dang cute. I love being able to talk to him and we both actually understand each other!!

This morning after seeing a commercial for "Baby All Gone"

Chase: Me want baby doll mommy.
Me: No, only girls get baby dolls (sounds like his father, huh?)
Chase: Mommy get baby doll?
Me: You want to get Mommy a baby doll for her birthday?
Chase: Un huh, then me play with it.

Way to outsmart your mom Chase!!

Question and Answer

Here is a short video of Chase...we have been teaching him his name, address, city, mommy and daddy's name and of course, how old he is. See if you can decipher.....the answer key is below if you can't! I just love his little voice and the way he pronouces things!

Name (Chase Thomas Lewis)

Address (Rainbow Drive)

Where do you live (Jefferson City)

Mommy's name (Mandy)

Daddy's name (Famous)

How old are you (2)

Officially 2 1/2 years old....

Can you believe we officially have a 2 1/2 year old boy? I can't.....in some ways, it seems like he was just born! Chase is just getting so grown up, talking up a storm and becoming quite the big boy. We've not been doing a whole lot lately, seems like it is has been so dang hot, that you can't do anything outside unless you are relaxing in some water!! So we have been hanging around the house and going outside for short periods to play, water the flowers and ride the tractor with Daddy.

This past Saturday, our neighborhood had a block party (1st one in all the years we have lived there). We went over for a couple of hours, enjoyed meeting some families and watching Chase play with all the kids. I bet at least 5 people asked us if Chase was 4 or 5 years old....nope...just 2 1/2! Oh well...!

Got to get better

I have got to get better about posting here...two years (ha ha) from now when I am trying to scrapbook for 2010 I will be kicking myself that I didn't put more details here about what was going on with our family!!
July has been a busy month filled with swimming, fireworks, BBQs and fun with family and friends. Over the fourth, we did all of the above!! Spent time swimming and BBQ'ing with the Moats/Turner family, BBQ'd and visited with the Bybee/Jones family, lunch with Nana and KK, dinner with Gamma and Papaw...we did a lot that weekend, huh?? We even got a great fireworks show with all the neighbors around us putting on a great show. We watched from the deck in our jammies and Chase loved it!

Look at those cute flip flop tan lines!
A couple of weekends ago, we headed back to the pool and swam with Harper, Madeline, Steph and Adam. Adam made some yummy BBQ and as always, made way to much but it was so good. Chase has taken to swimming like a fish. He has gotten pretty good with stabilizing himself with the life jacket and was jumping into the pool to me by the end of the night. He also was the last one out of the pool too...he had a great time.

Loves some corn on the cob!!

I haven't been to garage sales in forever and decided to try it out again with Chase. We found a book for a quarter at the first one we got to and I gave Chase money to give to the man holding the sale. The guy told Chase that he could go ahead and keep the money and Chase got the cutest little excited look on his face. As we walked away, he looked up at me and said "get more coins mommy, go more garage sales!".....he was excited and thought we got coins at the sales instead of giving them away!! So now he has been on a mission to get coins from Nana and Gamma and Papaw, so they always have a little baggie filled with coins for his piggy bank. We have to go home right away and put them in the bank!

This weekend, I was cleaning in the kitchen and Chase saw a bag of chocolate donuts on the counter and had to have one. I only let him take a bite of one, cause they are so messy when you hold them. He said yum and went on his way....or so I thought. I went on cleaning and turned to grab a donut for myself and the bag was gone. I should have know when he didn't come back for more that he was up to something. I went into the living room and found him like this....chocolate donuts all over his face and hands...luckily he know not to touch anything, but boy he is sneaky!!

Two other quick stories about just how dang smart he is. On Sunday, he wanted to go get the mail, so we did and he likes to play with the envelopes and inserts. So he brought them to me and asked me to read them. I told him to read them to me. He open them up and said "once upon a time"...it was so darn cute. Then I continued on with "in a far away land" and "there lived a prince and princess" and then he repeats the story again for me.
And just this morning, he was in his crib at Gammas playing with the music player that plays "twinkle twinkle litte star" and he started singing the whole song. Of course, not exact, but you knew exactly what he was singing...it was so sweet. Gamma and I both had tears in our eyes! He is just growing up so darn fast! We can't keep up with him!

Forever and a Day

Running and "falling" down the hill
Taking a breather

Yes, I know, it's been a long time!! Sorry about that!! We just had a big meeting in Branson for the MDA and it has consumed most of my time for the past month! Oh well, such is life.

Chase is becoming the most talkative boy....Mom has asked me if I remember her paying me to stop talking (which I don't) but I might have to try that technique although money means nothing to him now...maybe I will try food!!!!

That boy talks non-stop and about anything and everything. He comes up with some good stuff too and I often wonder where he learns it. Just this morning, I was talking with my mom about the fact that Chase had called the hay bales by name as we drove by them and she said he did for her too and I said, oh, that is where he learned it from...and she said she didn't teach it to him! Why in the heck would he know what a hay bale is at age 2???
Lately he has been saying "excuse me" anytime I am in his way and he would like me to move or if he sneezes or coughs too. He was standing at the sink washing his hands and I tried to open the closet door, which bumped him and he politely pushed back the door with his elbow and said "excuse me" in a cute voice (like excuse me, but I am back here!!).

He has been eating like a horse lately and often has to ask for more dinner...."mommy, need more pbj please" and "mommy, need more pizza please". With all of this, his getting a little sassy too...so we call him bossy pants too.

He is so not into the potty at all....he likes to sit on it and tries to poop, but nothing happens, except sometimes passing gas, then he jumps up and says "all done". When we ask if he has to poop, he replies with "not yetttt".

He loves to repeat exactly what you say, but often in the form of a question. Daddy has been trying to watch his language because he is repeating those doozies too. Luckily, they are only sometimes repeated and not random outbursts yet!

He also loves being a robot, transformer, t-rex, etc and stomping around the house making the various robot and dinosaur motions and sounds. Still lives to dance around too. He loves the water and can be entertained for hours with a water hose trickling water.
So, hopefully that is a good update for everyone! He is getting so big, strong as an ox, smart as a whip....and so on!!

Magic Word

I always say I will write these cute things down and then I forget!! But this time I remembered and am recording it here...so I can remember it down the line. After all, this is like my digital scrapbook here!!

Today, Chase and I visited Gamma Stokes this morning on her first day off from school and he decided he wanted to get in his crib there. He was playing and jumping around and then decided he wanted to get out. So Gamma asked him "What's the magic word" expecting him to say "pease" (please) and instead he said "abra dabra" (abracadabra)....now how in the world does he know that???

We both got a huge giggle out of that. He is so darn cute and smart!

Beautiful weekend

Can't believe what a nice weekend we had, although it got hot way too fast!

Saturday, Famous mowed the lawn while I planted flowers and Chase dug holes in the pots of dirt. I wanted to rearrange my pots in front so make a pretty vignette up front. Not finished yet, but I will post pics when I am done. After Chases' nap, we decided to go for a ride and stopped by Gamma and Papaws. Chase helped Papaw wash his boat and was having so much fun with the water, he stayed while we went to the store. When we got back, he was down to his diaper and pouring buckets of water on himself. We had a yummy dinner and were all stuffed!

Sunday, I tried planting more flowers and Famous washed the cars. Once Chase went around back and saw the water hoses out, all my planting halted. We drug out the pool, cleaned it up and filled it with cold water. After lunch and a nap, Chase and I went back out to get in the pool....it was like bath water!! So we had to add some more cold water to make it bearable. We spent 2 hours out there and Famous BBQ'd again and had baked potatoes and salad for dinner. Then time for a bath and read some books and Mr Man was ready for bed.

It went by so fast!
